RadioReverb 97.2FM - Brighton's Only Community Radio Station
RADIO REVERB OPEN COMMISSION FOR PROGRAMMING
Radio Reverb is once again opening up its schedule to radio producers in Brighton and Hove and is looking for new applications to be submitted via its website by the 1st December 2008.
Reverb aims to reflect the cultural diversity of the Brighton population in its community based speech programming and the diversity of musical genres listened to and loved by the people of Brighton in its music programming.
As part of our licence, Reverb has committed to staging these regular ‘open commissions’ to ensure the station has a regular influx of new people and new ideas. Due to the licence commitment, all shows, even long-running and successful ones, must re-apply as part of the commissioning process. This ensures we have a clear idea of all the shows that will make up the new schedule next year, including up to date descriptions of their formats and intended demographics. It also keeps with the demands of our licence.
Current producers are welcome to re-submit their original documents for the re-commissioning process, though it’s recommended that you go over the questions again as you may be surprised at how your idea may have developed since it has been on air. Whilst there is a possibility that existing shows may not be re-commissioned, the primary function exercise is to bring in new shows not to get rid of old ones.
Open commissioning decisions are made up of a panel which includes a board member and member of the management team, a producer from the station, a listener to the station and a guest Curator. For this round our guest Curator will be Lee Gooding, Senior Production Tutor at the University of Sussex.
Application forms can be found on the website here and the guidance for the forms can be found here. Any questions, or for help in completing the form please email here.
